We continue to have misuse of electronic devices, especially with the gab watch and/or smart watch. Students should not be contacting you on their personal device at any time during the school day. Please review the code of conduct that outlines our school expectations and consequence for a violation. “Students are welcome to use their electronic devices (including phones and watches) before or after school. Electronic devices may not be used or displayed during the school day. Students found using electronic devices during instructional time or independent time will be subject to the following: First Warning Student is asked to put device in the student’s backpack. Second violation Teacher takes the device and keeps it until the end of the day. Third violation Teacher gives the student’s device to the Principal and the student will get their device at the end of the day. Fourth violation Teacher gives the device to the Principal. Parent must come to school to get the device. Confiscated electronic devices will be returned when a parent comes into the school to pick it up from an administrator. Lost or stolen electronic devices are not the responsibility of school personnel.”
According to A Medical Corporation we can explore some practical tips to help children stay healthy and vibrant during this change of the season. Here are eight tips they offer. 1) Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather; as temperatures change, dress your children in layers. 2) Fall offers an array of delicious seasonal produce. Enjoy nutritious seasonal food. 3) Emphasize good hygiene by encouraging proper handwashing with soap and water. 4) Even as the weather cools down, ensure your children engage in regular physical activity. 5) Maintain a consistent sleep schedule to ensure your children get enough rest. 6) Stay hydrated and encourage your children to drink plenty of water and other healthy beverages. 7) Remind your children of the etiquette of illness by covering their mouth and noses when they cough and sneeze. 8) Maintain a clean environment by having your children help clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.
This month, Mondays with Marissa will focus on accountability. Here are some ways we will teach accountability at school that you can also implement at home. We will help children set goals for themselves and help them be accountable for achieving those goal. Our lesson will continue to teach kids to accept responsibility for their actions and that they get to CHOOSE their behavior. Delayed gratification will be a focus to not only address impulsive behaviors but also how this relates to achieving their goals. To finish up, we will talk about the difference between responding and reacting to a situation.
