Meeting Agenda:

  1. Welcome/Introductions Janene
  2. Elect Chair/Vice Chair/Secretary Janene

  3. Review Bylaws Janene
    1. VII b changed “Distribute meeting minutes with members for approval”
    2. Add a new section for meeting minutes – approve via email or during SCC meeting
  4. SCC training dates & times Christy
    1. Training schedule shared with members
  5. School Update Christy
    1. 1 person in the school is positive with COVID
    2. Quarantines are different this year
      1. If we have 30 people test positive in the school within 2 weeks – then we go to “test to stay”
        1. Test negative – stay in school
        2. Test positive – stay home 10 days
        3. Don’t test – stay home 10 days
      2. If Teacher is COVID positive, parents will be informed by the RN/skyalert and can decide if they’d like to send their student to school
      3. Student Exposed to COVID – (from someone that was within 6 feet of the student)
        1. First Option: quarantine for 10 days
        2. Second Option: come to school with a mask for 10 days
        3. Third Option: come to school without a mask
    3. Testing – school district, pediatrician, Walmart has an-over counter self-test
      1. District Testing: Monday and Thursday mornings
    4. Some students are wearing masks in every grade. Some teachers are wearing masks at times during the day.
    5. Teachers are doing rug-time this year. Not for very long. Students love this time.
    6. Desks are not social-distanced like last year
    7. Lunchroom – assigned table. Sitting closer together than they were last year
    8. School continues to do precautions – cleaning
    9. Hard to get substitutes. We need substitutes!!
    10. State is requiring all K-12 grade teachers, because of low performance on testing, attend a LETRS training.
      1. LETRS is an intensive professional learning program for teachers (Requires 1-2hrs a week outside of contract time). Federal government is funding this.
      2. It’s mandatory for K-3 teachers
      3. All our Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers are going to an all day training on 10/22 (Chinese teachers not going)
      4. We need 8 substitutes on Friday 10/22
    11. Teachers are feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
    12. Christy would like to move $1,000 to principal discretionary funds
    13. Motion: Move $1500 cell tower money to principal discretionary funds to support teachers. Motion approved.
    14. Second Steps – social emotional curriculum
      1. Elementary school curriculum is different than Middle School and High School curriculum
      2. Teachers here at Draper Elementary School like this curriculum
      3. Covers: Empathy, recognize when you are focused, feelings recognition, deep breathing, etc.
  6. Digital Citizenship/School Safety Christy
    1. October is Digital Citizenship – Tracie Preece is over this
      1. White Ribbon Week
  7. Safe Walking Routes Stacey
    1. Stacey and Christy worked on things over the summer
    2. They have prioritized 3 areas that are the most unsafe – City oriented. Tricky to manage these. Need – sidewalks and crosswalks and crossing guards
    3. We discussed adding a second meeting to discuss this in more detail
      1. Stacey will email Christy some date options
