Principal’s News – April 2025

“Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”– Anthony J. D’Angelo

Many may find this season to be a motivator for change, as the sunshine and warmer weather tends to reenergize us and inspire action. Whether that action is for physical health, mental health, or for reconnecting with friends and family, springtime will undoubtedly improve overall mood and energies. Here are 5 things to do for a fresh spring. 1) Spring clean 2) Eat more greens 3) Get moving! 4) Be mindful 5) Reconnect with others.

This month Mondays with Marissa will focus on Mindset.  The academic definition of mindset are key beliefs and perceptions which deeply influence students’ behavior as learners, and which enable learning success. Miss Marissa will talk to the students about how their attitude and beliefs influences their success.  Here are 10 strategies for fostering a growth mindset in the classroom.

1. Normalize struggle. 2. Encourage engagement with challenges. 3. Embrace the word “yet”.

4. Tout the value of hard tasks to the brain. 5. Demonstrate mistakes and celebrate corrections.

6. Set goals. 7. Develop cooperative exercises. 8. Provide challenges. 9. Avoid praising intelligence.

10. Don’t oversimplify.

Learning Environment forms for the 2025-2026 school year will be available April 1st-18th. If you have an environment request for your student, you can submit the attached form and/or directly email Mrs. Mulqueen.  This is an opportunity to provide information concerning the learning environment that you believe will best support your student. Please do not submit this form to your student’s teacher. It must be sent directly to Mrs. Mulqueen. ronnie.mulqueen@canyonsdistrict.org

As spring weather is near us, please review the dress code: “Clothing should be clean, neat and in proper repair. Students should wear appropriate clothes for the weather each day. Students may not wear shorts shorter than the wearer’s 4-finger span above the knee, tops that do not cover the shoulder with at least a 4-finger span, and gang related clothing of any kind” (pg. 17 Student/Family Handbook). Students that are not in compliance will be asked to call home or provided a Draper t-shirt to borrow for the day.
