Principal’s News – March
We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated. – Maya Angelou
Developing healthy habits goes beyond brushing teeth and eating vegetables. Our digital health matters too. Encourage your child to notice how technology affects their mind, body, and mood. Try asking: “How do you feel after being online—tired, happy, grumpy, anxious, inspired?”
Supportive conversations and positive role modeling help families:
✅Take tech breaks
✅Balance screen time with offline activities
✅Create device-free times and spaces

This month Mondays with Marissa will focus on Honesty & Integrity. We will be discussing how honesty means telling the truth and how integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Students will talk about real-life situations, practice making good choices, and reflect on how honesty builds trust with friends, teachers, and family. The goal is to help students build strong character and become people others can trust.
In March we will conduct a shelter in place drill. During this drill we will shut the outside doors and ask teachers and students to remain in their classrooms as the safety team inspects for any potential hazards.
Mark your calendars for March 31st. Draper SCC (School Community Council) and BTSA (Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts) will host our annual STEAM night. This will be a night of amazing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math activities. Bring the family to problem solve, explore, and play together.
Spring pictures are schedule for Friday, March 13th. This year every student will be invited to take their picture on this day. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase a spring picture packet after previewing the snapshot taken on March 13th.
If you know you will not be returning to Draper Elementary next year (outside of our current 5th grade students moving to 6th grade) please call the office and let us know. This information will help us plan for next year.
