DRAGON DELIVERY                                                                                    NOVEMBER 18, 2018

From Principal Christy Waddell

THANKSGIVING BREAK:There is no school on Wednesday November 21stthrough Sunday November 25th.  That’s right, we only have school 2 days this week.  Enjoy the very long weekend.

SHELTER IN PLACE DRILL:  This month we will be practicing a Shelter in Place Drill.  This is called when there is something going on outside of the building that could be a threat but teaching and learning can still go on inside. Examples of this would be if the police think there is someone in the area we need to be concerned about or if there is some kind of hazardous chemical spill.  The students would then just be asked to stay in the building and the doors to the outside would all be locked so no one could enter.

CLASSIC SKATING: There is a classic skating night from 5pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday November 28th

TOYS & ELECTRONICS:  We have been having some problems with kids bringing toys and electronics to school and then they get lost or get used when it isn’t appropriate.  I am asking that you check your kids backpacks and remind them that they are not to bring toys or electronics to school.  If you want them to have a phone on them they just need to be reminded it needs to stay in their backpack.  There are plenty of things for the kids to play when they are at recess and they need to run around.  When we have inside recess the teachers have games so there is no need for students to bring any toys from home.  I appreciate your support with this. Pokémon cards seem to be especially problematic at the moment.  If they are brought, we cannot be responsible for them.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Tuesday November 20th: Full day!  Last day of school for the week.

Monday November 26th: 6:00pm Choir sings for Draper Tree Lighting

Wednesday November 28th: Draper Choir sings for Festival of Trees 7:50-8:20pm

Wednesday November 28th: Classic Skate Night 5pm-8:30pm

FUNDRAISER:  Thank you so much for contributing to the fundraiser. The students were able to watch me kiss a pig at an assembly on Friday.  By the way, I think it was less gross than kissing a dog so it wasn’t that bad.

PARKING LOT DROP OFF:  We have had some parents driving way to fast into the parking lot when dropping off their kids or just driving unsafely.  PLEASE be careful.  We have also notice when picking up some parents are parking going westbound on the street that comes into ours and having their children run across traffic to get into their car.  This is so unsafe.  Your children are precious.  Please, please, be overly cautious when coming to our school.
