From Principal Christy Waddell

RED RIBBON WEEK: The PTA has some great events planned this week. Please see the attachment here that will give you more information.  Red Ribbon Week Themes.docx

PTA MESSAGE: The Council Reflections committee is looking for people interested in judging reflections entries at the council level.  They will be hosting a dinner (free dinner to judges!) on November 13 6:30-8:30 pm at a house in Draper to complete the judging.  If you are interested in volunteering your time to judge at the council level please contact Becky Alder () for more information.

FUNDRAISER: We only want one fundraiser this year and we are still $9,000 from our goal.  We have decided to add some incentives.  Once we raise an additional $3,000 the teachers will wear crazy hair one day. With an additional $6,000 our custodian, Fano, will dress up as a Fairy, all day.  Finally, if we raise an additional $9,000 Principal Waddell and our PTA president Marissa Geertsen will kiss a real live pig!!  The fundraiser ends the end of this month so please bring in those donations.

Emergency Drills:  Every month we hold emergency drills.  This month is a lockdown drill.  We will probably be doing the drill the week of October 22nd.  For this drill, I simply come on the loud speaker and tell the school we are going into lockdown.  The teachers lock their doors and teach the kids to sit very quietly away from the door window.  It will last about 5 minutes and then we resume teaching as usual.  I do not mention an intruder.  I feel strongly that we can practice this drill without unduly scaring any of the kids.  You are welcome to talk to them about it before we have the drill, the teachers will do so as well.
